Specialized High Schools in NYC are selective public schools for students who are artistically and academically phenomenal. New York Specialized High Schools have a separate admissions process from the general High School Admissions processes.

How to Apply to Specialized High Schools in NYC

To be eligible to attend the Specialized High Schools in NYC, you must take the Specialized High Schools Admission Test (SHSAT). The SHSAT scores are the only admission factor. However, in order to stand any chance of securing admission into any of the Specialized High Schools in NYC, passing the NYC Specialized High School Test (NYC SHSAT) is a prerequisite.

In addition to taking the NYC SHSAT, students must be residents of New York City and current eighth grade or first-time ninth-grade students to be eligible to apply, register, sit for, and receive results for the SHSAT and LaGuardia High School audition(s).
