  1. Open your web browser and type https://paypal.com/za into the address bar, which will set South Africa as your country of residence.
  2. Fill in the essential fields and confirm that you are not a robot by clicking on the button below.
  3. You will now be directed to a page where you can input your information.
  4. You can use your national ID number to verify yourself. Your national ID number is a 13-digit number that has the following format: YYMMDD (and 7 digits that follow). For example, 0205211234567.
  5. You will need to fill in more information, such as your province, city, zip code, or postal code. You can find the rest of the information by searching on Google for “South Africa city, zip code, or postal code.”
  6. Your phone number code would be in the following format: +27, followed by 11 digits after that. Don’t change the area code.
  7. The process is complete, and you now have access to your South African PayPal account. However, please keep in mind that you cannot verify your PayPal account using your phone number; you can only do so using your email address.

Don’t rejoice just yet! To withdraw your money from the new Paypal account, you need to get a card called an AfriCard. UBA provides you with the ability to withdraw money from your Paypal account through UBA ATM’s AfricCard.

  1. Hi, thank you for this. I do have a question.
Will there not be any implications of using South Africa as my country or residence?

Second, for the number, do I just craft a phone number in my head?
